By downloading, installing, or using Friend ("the App"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
Friend is licensed, not sold, to you. The App is provided under the terms of the Apple Standard End User License Agreement (EULA) as available through the Mac App Store, unless a custom EULA is provided. You may use the App on any Mac that you own or control, as permitted by the Mac App Store usage rules.
Friend is a macOS application for recording, transcribing, and analyzing meetings. The App processes audio and generates transcripts and analysis results using on-device models and, optionally, third-party AI services that you configure.
Transcription and analysis results are generated by machine learning models and may contain errors. The App does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any output. You should verify important information independently.
If you choose to configure cloud-based AI providers (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, or Azure OpenAI), your use of those services is governed by their respective terms of service. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of third-party services.
The App and all associated intellectual property are owned by Christoph Gerdes. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works based on the App, except as permitted by applicable law.
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Christoph Gerdes be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the App.
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
